The city of Sadat is considered one of the cities in the Munufia Governorate, located midway between the governorates of Cairo and Alexandria. Its lands were previously part of Beheira Governorate, and Sadat City was established in 1979 by a presidential decree from former President "Mohamed Hosni Mubarak". Sadat City features three universities: Sadat University, a branch of the American University in Cairo, and a branch of Al-Azhar University.
Sadat City is known for including many clubs and sports centers, among these clubs are: Al-Nujoom Sports Club, the Royal Club, Al-Salam Youth Center, and the Youth Center of Sadat City.
Sadat City is distinguished by having an excellent road network, making it easy for its residents to travel between different cities in a short period of time. Additionally, Sadat Station was included in the modern electric train project.
The population of Sadat City has increased recently, reaching a population count of 250,000 according to the 2016 statistics. This has led to an increase in investors in its lands to utilize them for establishing health, educational, and commercial services.
Given that Sadat City is far from the Munufia Governorate and not connected to it in terms of services or regionally, there are many demands calling for Sadat City to be made an independent city from Munufia Governorate. There are also those who are calling for it to be returned to Beheira Governorate as it was previously.
