Al-Fayoum Governorate is considered one of the most important governorates in Egypt due to its distinctive strategic location. As for the "Waterwheels of Hadir," which attract tourists’ attention, they are ancient machines that used to rotate to provide water from the weirs through the force of propulsion. There are 200 wood-made waterwheels in Al-Fayoum, making it unique in this type of waterwheel.
There are different natural reserves in Al-Fayoum, including the Wadi El-Rayan reserve, located 77 km from the heart of Al-Fayoum city. The valley covers an area of about 35 acres, and it also includes the Wadi El Hitan reserve.
As of July 1, 2014, the population of Al-Fayoum city was three million and 115 thousand people. Many personalities mentioned in the Holy Quran lived in Al-Fayoum, including (Prophet Yusuf - Joseph, peace be upon him, and his brothers, Qaroun, and Aziz of Egypt and his wife).
